By the blessing and mercy of Allah SWT, we have established a children’s maktab to provide educational services about Islam.
Alhumdullilah we are highly subscribed with nearly 300 students and offer classes in the weekend and during the week. Our classes are 2 hours a day and are structured in a 2-day syllabus. Alhumdullilah, as well as the traditional teachings in Islam, the LCIC Maktab have also provided extra-curricular activities such as school trips, sports days and weekly SMSC sessions. For more information of these events and to receive live updates from LCIC Maktab please like our page on Facebook.
The Maktab timetable is as follows:
Weekend Maktub: Saturday and Sunday 10.30am -12.30pm (term-time only)
Weekday Maktub: Tuesday and Wednesday 5pm – 7pm (term-time only)
InshaAllah the children will learn how to recite the Quran with Tajweed, important duas, memorise surahs and learn relevant Islamic Studies topics over the course of the two days every week. At beginner level they will practice basic Arabic reading/writing skills, duas and Islamic Studies. Refreshments are provided for them occasionally. They will also engage in extra-curricular activities inshaAllah.
Significantly, they will inshaAllah learn to be better Muslims and citizens and love the deen / masjid.
Alhamdulillah, as the maktab has progressed we have been able to start a Hifz (memorisation of the Qur’an) class. To memorise the holy Qu’ran is a great accomplishment in Islam and the benefits of achieving such a feat are immense. Alhamdulillah, this is the first of its kind in Hertfordshire. Previously, children from St Albans would have to travel to other parts of the country to attain this type of education, but now with the Hifz class at LCIC, it has provided a local alternative and reduced the stresses of having to live far away from home to attain this knowledge.
The Hifz lessons take place Monday to Thursday from 5pm to 7pm and is for students who are already fluent in the recitation of Quran
